Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

from Ruth Harris

Anne and I wish happiness, health, and all the season’s blessings to our cherished readers and commenters.

With the appearance of a new variant called Omicron, Covid has staged a resurgence. It feels to me as I write this from New York a few days before Christmas that we are living in the limbo of a story without an ending, a plot without a resolution.

Since Anne and I try always to keep it realistic, sensible and encouraging, I have decided not to turn away from the realities we have all been experiencing. Instead, I thought to offer this excerpt from Balanchine’s Nutcracker as danced by the New York City Ballet.

I hope you will find its thrilling energy and elegance a joyous, uplifting respite.

–Ruth

Happy Boxing Day to our UK friends! And remember that books make great gifts! 🙂 Wishing you all a healthy, happy Christmas season in spite of the Covid Grinch! Write well, scriveners!

–Anne

Loved this. And just to say, although I have shared all these great blogs, I rarely have commented. But at this difficult time for everyone, I need to say how much this has lifted my spirits, and thank you, both. Your posts are so useful.

Oh my goodness – I absolutely LOVE the Nutcracker. Every year my family sees the local Nutcracker ballet but we haven’t gone in two years now. This video really is so beautiful. I loved watching it. Thank you to both of you, Anne and Ruth, for everything you do for us throughout the year by posting such informative and helpful information for writers. I hope the year 2022 is a good year for you both … and for all those who read this blog.
